Ramble Time
The first ever Ema Maishima and Kikyo Furusawa singles match was a very solid affair. Two young rookies went at it and it ended after 10 minutes. They managed to get the crowd fired up in terms of the fact that there was some cheers throughout. I really did like this one and it was a fun time. However, the Dynamic Thunder Connection continues as STARDOM announced another singles match between Ema Maishima and Kikyo Furusawa on the 25th NEW BLOOD show. Well that was the quickest rematch I’ve seen in a while, but okay. This comes within 13 days after their first bout, but hey, I’ll do it with what I can.
Match Time
With that being said, in front of 225 fans from the Azalea Taisho Hall in Tokyo. In the opening match, it’s round 2 between Ema Maishima and Kikyo Furusawa. As I always say to my friends. Let’s roll with it.
(I forgot to mention this when I started detailing this entire bout. Before the match began, both competitors didn’t shake hands.)
The match kicks off with both locking up and exchanging wrist locks. Furusawa was on the receiving end, so she rotated her body towards her so Ema could have less control over her trapped wrist. Then Furusawa uses her free arm to grab Ema’s hand from behind her back to escape the wrist lock while at the same time to apply another wrist lock to transition into a hammerlock. Or in other words, the Hachi Counter. Also if you are wondering, it’s like the last match they had where this was happening. Ema back elbows her way out from the hammerlock and uses her legs like she is Twisting Tiger to drop toe hold Furusawa to the mat. Ema floats over to apply the low headlock as both get up to their feet. Ema kept wrenching her head until Furusawa placed her right foot on her left knee to escape.
Furusawa had her in a headlock takedown into a lock side headlock takeover. Ema escaped by using her legs to trap Furusawa’s head. Furusawa kips up out of it before a pinfall happened. Ema immediately went for the dropkick, only for Furusawa to dodge and hit three rope rebound dropkicks for a nearfall. That is an unusual tactic given what happens later. Furusawa tried to go for the bodyslam, but Ema escaped and swung her arm to go for a lariat. Furusawa ducked that and dropkicked Ema in the left leg to apply her Ankle Lock. Ema was able to get to the ropes, but Furusawa trapped her leg in the ropes to attack it. Ema was able to counter Furusawa’s impending attack by drop toe holding her to the middle rope. Much like the last match, she ran from the ropes to connect with a dropkick on Furusawa’s back. Ema gave her a bodyslam in the centre of the ring. Ema applied a Boston Crab to Furusawa to damage her back, but Kikyo got to the ropes.
When they were both on their feet, the strikes kept on coming. Furusawa was screaming for her life as she kept going like it’s the end of the world if she didn’t. She went for another one, but Ema ducked that to run to the ropes and rebounded back to a bi dropkick for a two count. Ema slaps her mind onto the mat to fire herself up and goes for the Suplex. Furusawa jumps off her and does a standing switch to sweep her legs as a way to roll into the Ankle Lock. Since Ema was close to the ropes, she was going to reach out for them until Furusawa noticed and dragged her out further. Furusawa did another version of the Ankle Lock where it looks like a Kneebar. Ema was writhing in pain and managed to get to the ropes. Furusawa picked her up again and finally hit a bodyslam for multiple failed pin attempts
Furusawa ran to the ropes to rebound back for a running attack. Suddenly, Ema turned into Kazuchika Okada and hit a big dropkick to stop her in her tracks. That was also a major nearfall. Ema tried to go for a big Suplex, but Furusawa countered that into the Most Devastating Move in All Of Sports Entertainment, the Surprise Rollup to get a nearfall. As they were both on equal footing, Ema blocked Furusawa’s lariat attempt to spin her around into the Three Amigos (3 Consecutive Suplexes) which definitely surprised me as I didn’t expect that coming. That wasn’t able to get the three, so Ema went for the Boston Crab submission again. Much like earlier, when Furusawa was closer to the ropes, Ema pulled her back to the centre. Ema decided to switch her focus to one leg instead of two. Furusawa was in way more pain to the point that she tapped out, meaning that Ema is the winner.
In the aftermath, it basically confirms that we are getting a third singles match between Ema Maishima and Kikyo Furusawa. It’s going to be on the next NEW BLOOD which I will do as quickly as possibly can. So yeah. I’m actually excited about this series especially since you can watch these first two matches on STARDOM’s YouTube Channel as the majority of the NEW BLOOD are on there.
UPDATED Record: 1 - 0 - 1 Ema Maishima
Post Ramble Time:
I swear these NEW BLOOD shows have been popping out like it’s candy with 24, 25 and now 26 (which is the next match of this rivalry) being within 13 days of each other. Since the Goddesses Of Stardom Tag League (tag team round robin tournament) is happening in November, the next NEW BLOOD show is announced for Christmas. If Ema and Kikyo are announced for that show, you know that I will be watching that show for them. I’ll do my best to write as many of their singles matches as I can unless one of them has big opportunities.
