Ramble Time
Okay. The title sounds like I’m about to give a love confession to Lady C, but let me explain first before you pull out the party balloons. So… I have been experiencing a weird shift on my X (Twitter) feed over the past few months. Especially as there was a period of maybe 1 - 2 weeks, where I saw 94% of the timeline of Japanese Pro Wrestling. I know you might be thinking, why is that a weird shift? Normally I would say that it isn’t a weird shift to see Japanese Pro Wrestling on my feed. The difference is that the timeline from that 1 - 2 week period is that it’s from the Japanese Fans. So I have been in a timeline of Japanese tweets from fans and wrestlers alike.
Did I understand shit? No, but it was an interesting experience nonetheless. Right now, it’s 50% English and 50% Japanese and it’s really funny to see, especially since some of my folks want me to learn another language, which is Japanese. Funny stuff. So one thing I’ve learned from is that there was a wrestler I couldn’t escape from, regardless of what tweet it was. The wrestler in question is Lady C.
Lady C is a wrestler from STARDOM. If I’m not mistaken, she is one of the tallest wrestlers on the roster as she stands at 5’ 10” with only HANAKO and Bozilla taller than her at 5’ 11”. So yeah, I couldn’t escape her on my timeline. Everyday. Regardless if I was scrolling through past tweets, interacting with tweets, or even seeing her in search bars. And we all know the saying of “You can’t beat them, join them”, so I follow her on X. Will I ever get a follow back? Hell No. I am okay with it, because there is no point of being excited about that. Since I couldn’t escape her, my mind said one day, “Fuck it, let’s do an article about Lady C”. An interesting fact I found from researching about her is that she used to be a Teacher for Economics which does explain why she has the look of Mother and Therapist at the same time. (I don’t mean with malicious intent. I apologize if it’s insulting.)
Match Time:
In today’s diary entry, we are going to detail the match she had in the 5STAR Grand Prix as she faced (at the time of writing) High Speed Champion Mei Seira. This happened on the second show of the entire tournament. On the first show, Lady C was unable to score points as she lost to World Of Stardom Champion (and now, NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion) Saya Kamitani and Mei Seira had 2 points by beating Waka Tsukiyana in 28 seconds. Yes, that actually happened. (Which will be ironic given what I have planned next.)
So with that being said, in front of 448 fans in the Morioka Gymnasium in Morioka, Iwate. In the second match on the show, it’s High Speed Champion Mei Seira vs Lady C in the Red Stars - A Block. Let’s roll with it.
The bell rang and immediately, Lady C went for the big boot. Before I go further, I must inform you that 5STAR GP matches are 15 minutes in length, well the block stage at least. Seira slid under it and popped up to go for the dropkick. Lady C dodge it, trying to go for the Irish whip, but Seira reversed the Irish whip to send her to the ropes. Lady C shoulder tackled her, only for Seira to pop back up to her feet which is kinda funny. Seira ducked her lariat attempt to push her to the ropes… only to be shoulder tackled by Lady C again. Lady C would channel her inner Claudio Castagnoli and was actually going to the big swing on Seira. Seira got out of the Boston Crab with a Tierras. She followed up with a dropkick that sent Lady C against the ropes.
Seira placed her in the corner and I don’t know how to explain this. We all know the sequence of the 10 punches in the corner. Seira decided to do dropkicks in the corner. Seriously I am not making this up, this literally happened and makes me not want to question Joshi wrestlers and their routines. I mean, my knees would be crushed and Seira does it like it was a walk in the park. I will never understand that. It was a two count and Seira locked in a submission. I won’t lie, I don’t know what the name of the move is. I apologise for that and the closest name I can think of is Kazuchika Okada’s Red Ink submission. Luckily Lady C used her long limbs to reach the ropes and Seira hit a Double Axe Handle on her back. Seira invited C to take a shot at her and C did exactly that to knock her back to the ropes. Seira faked out a punch to stomp on Lady C’s foot. After letting go, Seira ran to the ropes only for C to cut her off with a back elbow. Lady C ran to the ropes, but Seira ran the same way as C was coming back to surprise her with a High Crossbody. Lady C caught her and turned it into a Giant Swing.
I counted the rotations, because I’m a goof and it was 14 times from my own calculations. Lady C was so dizzy after dropping her that she stumbled towards the blue corner. Lady C went back to the fallen Seira for a pin attempt and it was a two count. As she picked her up, Seira went for lariat and Lady C countered that into Dr. Teeth. She followed up with a running big boot for the two count. As both were on their feet, Seira reverses the Irish whip and tries to do her own. After realising that wasn’t gonna work, Seira cut the contact off and went for a Victory Roll. C stopped her midway and hit the Wheelbarrow Facebuster for a nearfall. A strike exchange ensues as they are both on their feet with C getting the most. As C ran to the ropes, Seira cuts off with a rope rebound attack by hitting her with a lariat against the ropes. When Seira ran across to do a springboard, not only Lady C cut her off, but she also hit a massive chokeslam from it. My back is hurting for her and I don’t think she cares.
Lady C was going for a Crucifix Powerbomb which I will personally call the Vestimentar Bomb if it actually connected. Seira escaped and jumped on Lady’s back for the Rear Naked Choke. The Lady quickly improvised and ran back into the nearest corner to escape while at the same time, getting some sort of damage on Seira. Lady C went for a running big boot in the corner, but Mei got out of the way to do a schoolgirl to provide much needed distance. Seira charged forward for the Running Nothing, only for her face to be marked by Lady C’s big boot. The way her head just crumpled into the mat, I turned into Seira’s dad and then I realised this is from July. That was only a two count and as Lady C was about to do a rope rebound attack, Seira swept her legs. She applied the same submission she did earlier in the match, but transitioned into another one. This one is called Ryuusei Ryuu to get the submission victory which means Mei Seira has now 4 points in the RED STARS - A BLOCK. (I literally had to search on X to find the names of Mei Seira’s moves, but it worked out in our favour.)
Post Ramble Time
Okay, since I know that my bosses are the type of people who are creative when it comes to cover art. I only have one request and only one request. I would like the most creative and wackiest cover art that you can muster. Since it’s focused on Lady C (with Mei Seira as the opponent), go all out with it especially after seeing that title. This Lady C based article is fun and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have.
