ROH On HonorClub Collection #2: The Baddie And The Freeze
Match: Lady Frost vs Leila Grey (4:28)
Company: Ring Of Honor
Year: 2025
Event: ROH On HonorClub #107 (Weekly TV)
I have been experiencing a bit of a writer’s block or something I genuinely don’t know. Honestly, I have been struggling on what I’m going to write about. Especially since I haven’t been feeling great about being a writer, mainly because I feel like I’m Hayter-Rade myself multiple times to think of something. It’s been that bad, and I had to rethink myself for the past few days. My mind is like that one Eddie Kingston segment every time, “TONY KHAN!!” I know that you probably don’t want me to ramble, but I love rambling. It’s the only peace I have right now, so deal with it.
Today unlike my many backgrounds and prologues that I do for most of my articles, I’m actually going to take it easy. Sure it’s not going to be the best quality of my work, but my whole schick is about writing matches. Everything that happens from bell to bell is what I do even though I will fuck it up in many ways (and opinionated articles, but I digress). It is not the most surprising change that I am making, given that the first ever article that I did was Mayu Iwatani vs Momo Watanabe from NJPW X STARDOM Historic X-Over. That article would kick off my unsigned SickosClub career, but it was just a match. This is going to be an interesting one especially since this is going to be from an ROH On HonorClub TV episode.
Ring Of Honor is a very strange promotion. I never watched any other versions of Ring Of Honor before the Tony Khan Era of it, so I genuinely don’t know the differences. Right now, Ring Of Honor has been quite an odd show. I have mentioned on my social media that I do watch and support even when I have a bad day or miss an episode. It has become a comfort show for me and I can see many different personalities and people who could be able to make their names well known like our current ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, the rise of Billie Starkz, The Infantry (Shawn Dean, Carlie Bravo & Trish Adora) and Red Velvet as ROH Women’s World Television Champion, the reinvention of Shane Taylor Promotions, the rise of Kyle Fletcher as ROH World Television Champion (even though I hated him being champion from when he won it, because it disrupt the rise of Dalton Castle), Mark Briscoe being a great ROH World Champion, the recent CMLL expansion of their 9 year relationship with ROH. People who are from the independence or lower card AEW wrestlers have a chance to shine in a taped environment.
And where are the people I just mentioned? All of them with the exception of Red Velvet, Dalton Castle and Shane Taylor Promotions are on AEW TV. Which I could give less of shit about. I will explain why in my conclusion, but that is not the focus for today. So today, I will detail one match in particular for this and it’s Lady Frost vs Top Flight’s Leila Grey. This match was on the 107th episode of ROH On HonorClub which was taped on March 1st of this year and later broadcasted on March 13th.
So with that being said, taped in front of 2,018 fans in Oakland, California. In the third match of the show, it’s Lady Frost vs Leila Grey. Let’s roll with it.
The match starts off with the Code Of Honor which is a custom of ROH. You have to shake hands to signify that you have respect for your opponent, which would be very funny for jokes. After a short collar and elbow tie, Frost snatches her in an Arm Drag. Frost goes waist lock, but Grey escapes with a standing switch and slams her down while maintaining the rear waist lock. Frost tries to wiggle her way out, but Grey keeps a hold of it and even does a pin attempt. When both women find a vertical base, Frost escapes the waist lock… only to be trapped in a side head lock.
Frost tried to push Grey off to the ropes, but Grey kept a hold of the headlock to stop that from happening. Frost takes a shot to the gut to escape and applies her own side headlock. Grey also escapes with the gut check and pushes Frost to the ropes. Frost jumps over the drop down. Both women ran to the ropes and Grey caught Frost with a backslide for a two count. Grey forearm strikes Frost and does high kicks to the left shoulder and low kicks to the body before rebounding back from the ropes with a dropkick. Both women were exchanging strikes in the corner. When they moved to another corner, the strikes continued.
Frost hits Grey with a flying shoulder tackle in the corner, rolls backs into another flying shoulder tackle. Frost Irish whips her into another corner for an attack. Grey dodges and fires back with a high knee to the face. Grey would follow up with a Bulldog to switch into a Dragon Sleeper. This has been a new submission she has been including in her arsenal recently which I call the Baddie Entrapment until she has a name for it. Frost rolled onto her back to get into the bridge which is also a pin attempt. After she escaped from Grey getting her shoulder up, Frost did an inside cradle for a two count and Grey counters that with her own inside cradle for a two count.
Grey was going for the underhook and Frost reverses it into a back body drop. Frost ducks under the clothesline and rebounds back from the ropes with an oddly effective uppercut for a two count. Frost high kicks Grey in the corner with a Gamengiri. She would follow up with a cannonball senton, or as Caprice Coleman would say, “SNOWBALL FIGHT!!”. Frost would climb up to the top turnbuckle, but Grey tries to cut her off. Frost jumps off to avoid that and kicks her knee. She followed up with a Rewind Kick (Feint Kick followed up with another kick to confuse their opponents) and immediately tried to use a spinning roundhouse. Grey ducks that and uses… the Most Devastating Move in All Of Sports Entertainment, the Surprise Rollup to get the 1, 2, 3.
Info: Leila Grey’s Theme Song is really fun to listen to, so I’m glad to hear it even if it was only for a few seconds. This match is available on Ring Of Honor’s official YouTube channel if you want to view it for yourself.
Conclusion
I mentioned earlier that I couldn’t give a shit about Kyle Fletcher, Athena, Billie Starkz, etc being regulars on All Elite Wrestling Television. The reason as to why I would say that is simply because I haven’t been excited to watch the product. I do follow the product by reading the results on their official website, but I haven’t even done that for almost three months. I watch their PPVs and even I don’t feel excited for those as I didn’t watch the All In Texas show. Well, only one match which was The Sons Of Texas vs Shane Taylor Promotions on the pre-show.
Now look, I don’t hate AEW. Honestly, I wish everyone well in what they do in their careers. All I’m saying is that I’m going to be focusing on many things in my wrestling fandom.
