The Ramble Time

Boxes are great. You can have a lot of things in boxes. Flies. Lunch. The emotional attachment from your son as you become a failed writer in 7 years. Did I also say lunch? And doing another big project while writing this article to take my time unlike the last time where I didn’t. I was going to include these in my first ever simulcast a while back, but I have decided to do it after so many last minute changes. And it’s honestly depressing, but I have to stay determined so let’s go. It’s time not only for another addition of the US Indies, but another version of Good To Have Internet Buddies. This addition of GTHIB will be called Discovery.

In the world of professional wrestling where we have so much access to many great products whether that be old or new, some of our favourite wrestlers are from different places and we discover them in different ways. For most people who watch only one wrestling company and it can be any company, that’s how they will discover new wrestlers. That can be a hidden beauty about pro wrestling, discovering wrestlers from anywhere around the world.

This leads us to today in the case of two matches from two different events. Four wrestlers with different personalities and two of them I discovered from one of my internet buddies, DB (@dakotaisabum06). Even though my pal’s hatred for Ricochet is about as impactful as Muscle Man Malcolm’s dislike of Emily Jaye for drinking Normal Milk, there are two wrestlers I discovered through him, so yeah. I mentioned DB in my first US Indies article and honestly, it was the best one that I posted on the X platform and had multiple notices. It’s obviously not my favourite, but it was the best one in terms of notoriety. As I was looking for more wrestling to write about, especially watching classic matches from the World Of Joshi, I decided to do some unfinished matches on the original simulcast in separate articles. Honestly, there is so much that I left out because of the last minute changes to my plans and my lack of commitment with the first Volume. I mention this at the very end of my volume and it was a bad time.

The Matches

Hyan vs Amaris Blair (5:47)

We are going to start with New Texas Pro in 2023 to begin with this one. This is a match that I wouldn’t do, but I did promise that I would include this in the first WrestleVerse and I didn’t.

With that being said, from the Houston Premier Arena in Houston, Texas. In the fourth match on the show, it’s Hyan vs Amaris Blair. Let’s roll with it.

Both women started off with a collar and elbow tie up. When they were in the corner and they had to do a clean break, Hyan started placing Blair’s hair behind her ear with her hands in a neat way. Hyan doesn’t even attempt to attack her and she goes backwards to the opposite corner, so they can restart. You already know how this is going to go when this happens or you don’t realise until you rewatched it. When tweeting about it, I could tell when I did post some recorded footage.

Blair ducks under Hyan trying to do another collar and elbow to wrap her head into a side headlock. She really wrenches in the headlock and even uses her grip to stop Hyan from sending her to the ropes. Hyan just decides to pick her up in her arms and… rock her like she is a baby. Everyone thought Kazuchika Okada patting his opponent after seeing them flinch was funny, but I would like to introduce you to Hyan holding a grown woman like a child. She places Blair on the top of the turnbuckle and walks to the neutral side of the ring.

Blair tries to surprise her with a Crossbody and Hyan just catches her. Blair escapes and tries to do an Arm Drag, Hyan just picks her up easily to connect with a forearm strike. Blair ducks underneath a big boot to run to the ropes and rebounds back with a Tierras. You might think that was effective as Hyan wasn’t really doing anything particularly offensive. Well apparently, Blair didn’t have as much impact as a teddy bear since Hyan easily reversed a suplex into her own. Hyan uses an Irish whip to hold onto her wrist, so she can use her knee to gut check her. She follows up with a Northern Lights Suplex for a two count. Hyan just smiles like a psychopath since she is just toying around to chop the shit of Blair. She has the smile of Kenjaku from Jujustu Kaisen as she has the smile of delight on her face.

After a failed pin attempt, Hyan uses a body stretch that I have seen and played in the WWE2K games, but I forgot the name. Even the commentators acknowledge it. Blair escapes and does a Drop Toe Hold to Hyan onto the ropes. She continues to target the neck which was hinted at when Hyan got out of that side headlock earlier and Blair eleven hits a Satellite DDT for a two count. The Glamourous offence continues with a running neckbreaker for obvious reasons. Hyan uses her strength to get to a vertical base after Blair attempted a Cattle Mutilation.

After being pushed into a corner, Blair realises that Hyan is trying to recover and climbs up the top turnbuckle. Blair seems like she can turn the tide and try a top rope hurricanrana. That turned into a deadly dose of pain, because Hyan caught her in midair and powerbombed her like she is Gabe Kidd. She literally did a combination of the CT Knee and hit the Beauty Sleep (Full Nelson Facebuster) for the 1, 2, 3.

What a match. Just kidding, it was a one sided torture feast.

“Ultra Violent” Leah Night vs “Your Hero” Airica Demia (9:40)

https://x.com/archersniped/status/1945793725126357333?s=46

(Fun Fact: DB actually attended this show and is in the crowd on camera. It just took me a while to figure out for some reason.)

The final match on this edition of the US Indies is “Ultra Violent” Leah Night vs “Your Hero” Airica Demia. Before we start, I want to point out two specific things. One, DB actually attended this show because Emily Jaye had a match at the Dawg House show as she faced Amanda Kiss later on in the show. Once they took a picture, I called them, Billy and Mandy in reverse. Two, this is about the name of “Your Hero” Airica Demia which is the wrestling name of… My Hero Academia which is a manga and anime series that I actually haven’t watched. Maybe I should change that.

With that being said, from Princeton High School (which according to DB, that school is massive which actually doesn’t surprise me) in Princeton, North Carolina. In the second match on the show which did surprise me, it’s Leah Night vs Airica Demia. Let’s roll with it.

The bell rings and Demia does a forward roll before a lockup. I don’t know why she did it, but okay. Anyway, Night got out of the side headlock to apply a waist lock. Then she turns Demia’s body around into a snapmare and a kick to the back. Demia uses a quirk to dodge a kick and goes for a rollup attempt. Since the pin attempts didn’t work, Demia has Night in a side headlock takedown.

Night did manage to get and send her to the ropes. That was kinda pointless because Night was on the receiving end of another side headlock takedown. After they both separated, Night tried to fake out into a clothesline and Demia rolled forward and back with a double kick. Night was staggering in the corner and Demia followed up with a forearm strike into a snapmare / uppercut combo.

Demia tried going for a fist to the gut, only for Night to move. So Demia tried to do the Backfist To The Future (Spinning Backfist), only for Night to duck and whip her down with a Hair Pull Slam. Night followed up with a senton and placed her in the corner. Both engage in a mini strike exchange before Night starts antagonising her like she is Bakugo which ironically makes sense. As Demia has her ponytail tied to the middle rope, Night just kneed her right in the face.

Demia tried to fight back in the spirit of Jado, but Night just kept stomping her in the corner and even clobbered her with a facewash. She is really being the Bakugo to her Midoriya. Okay, I’ll stop doing that. Back in the centre, Night applied an extended chin lock. Demia gets out of it and even hits a jawbreaker. 10 minutes remain as Demia dodges Night’s attacks to connect with a front side back elbow which I believe is called Heart Scar. I might be completely wrong, but who knows.

Anyway, Demia connects with a forearm strike and follows up with Sole Food. She runs up and hits the One’s Justice (Uppercut) and Gamengiri in the corner. Night reverses an Irish whip to send her to the corner. Demia jumps over Night’s charge and baits her to use a clothesline. It ended up working in her favour as Demia ducked underneath to hit the Backfist To The Future into an Ripcord Arm Trapped Neckbreaker. I would also like to say that I have been watching too many shows that involve elements of flashing gears like these. Random, but that’s what I am sometimes.

With the pose of preparing for a Kamehameha, Demia hits the Bop! (Overhead Chop) for a two count. She tried to go for the One For Your Face, only for Night to counter that with… the Least Devastating Move in All Of Sports Entertainment, the Blue Thunder Bomb. Did it work? Of course it didn’t, it never does. Night just kept giving rapid fire forearms and placed her on the top turnbuckle. After a couple slaps, Demia just headbutted her way out. Demia got off from the top turnbuckle and even placed Night in a corner package position, so she can charge up and finally connected with One For Your Face (probably not the right move, but fuck it).

She followed up with the Most Devastating Move in All Of Sports Entertainment, the Surprise Rollup for a two count. Demia took off her elbow pad and tried One For Your Face again, but Night countered that into Dr. Teeth. After struggling for 4 seconds, Night would hit the Brainbuster onto Demia to get the 1, 2, 3.

Out of two matches I have written here, this is one I recommend you watch and actually should’ve deserved more time than it.

Post Ramble

Okay. So I actually had these match descriptions since the month of July. The reason why I didn’t write about it then is that… it didn’t feel right. This has been the case since the first ever US Indies article and it truly translated into my first volume of WrestleVerse. The first US Indies was the most successful article I have ever had so far in terms of social media reach even though it’s not my personal favourite. I felt like in order to get that reach again, I should do more in my articles to reach that point. That resulted in me being very unmotivated to write about wrestling because I was putting a lot of effort and information that I could save up.

I didn’t have a balance essentially on the content and tried to write about ideas that are very dumb and makes it feel like I am stabbing myself in the neck. That is how I feel right now and I’m currently doing a long planned project on Hologram and I feel more unmotivated to do that and I have been WASTING TIME ON LOADS OF OTHER SHIT I COULD’VE DONE. I wanted to give up on writing articles multiple times and on multiple instances. Then I realized one specific thing that I'm writing about…

I am a Nobody. No one cares if I live, No one cares if I get sick, No one cares if I get killed in a bonfire. No one cares if I make a mistake on my written work because no one will care at all. Really pessimistic is it? That’s how it is for myself. Honestly, I have been trying to gain the balance of how I do this and I’ll try to find balance for my style and pessimism.
